The most dangerous pathway in the world? If that's a serious question, all it takes is a peek at the photographs to reveal the answer is "YES"! Caminito del Rey is a trail around the El Chorro limestone gorge in Andalusia, Spain. The walkway, which clings to cliffs hundred of meters high, was built in 1901-1905 to grant access to the location where the Conde del Guadalhorve Dam would be built in 1921. King Alfonso XIII of Spain traveled the pathway to attend the opening of the dam.

Since other roads were built to the dam, the walkway has fallen into disrepair. Handrails are gone. The pathway itself is gone in places, and rickety in others. Tourists have died trying to cross it, so the Caminito del Rey was officially closed to travel years ago. However, people still go there at their own risk.
