Motorcycle with a 48-Cylinder Engine

(Photo: Hertfordshire Superbike Centre)

A classic Royal Enfield engine has 1 cylinder. The typical V-twin has 2. A Honda Goldwing has 6. But the engine of the Whitelock Tinker Toy has no fewer than 48 cylinders arranged in 6 straight 8 blocks. Its total displacement is 4200 cubic centimeters.

Simon Whitelock built this marvel. But can he steer it?

Hi there,

We came across this when checking our webhits!!

My name is Ali form Hertfordshire Superbike Centre - this bike was built by Simon Whitelock, the owner and MD of Hertfordshire Superbike Centre. Read up more on this on our dedicated page to the 48: http://www.hertfordshiresuperbikes.com/48cyl.shtml

We have videos of it running on our youtube channel under our favourites (You can catch a link form our homepage http://www.hertfordshiresuperbikes.com/ )

If we have enough interest, we may just get it running again for the world to see!!
