The Japanese design firm Taphonomy salvaged steering wheels from cars and mounted them in place of bicycle handlebars. Do you think this would make it easier or harder to ride a bicycle?

As I recall, KITT had a handlebar instead of a steering wheel.

Yeah, we did this 40 years ago. A bit harder to ride. We switched back to handlebars after a couple months.

It seems harder to ride, but if they installed airbags too, maybe they could be safer at least.

This used to be "a thing". In 1969 or 1970 I bought one at either Sears or JCPenney. It was harder to steer until you got used to it.

Seems to me that it would be much more difficult... although landing on them when you fall might be less traumatic! ;x
