The 10 Grumpiest Authors in Literary History

Flavorwire has put together a particularly perplexing list of ten famously grumpy authors. My favorite on this list hands down has to be Maurice Sendak. If you don't recognize the name or the face (above) he was the author of many children's books, including Where the Wild Things Are. While he had some very pointed opinions, he was also a very insightful guy when you give him a chance. Sadly, Maurice Sendak passed away earlier this year on May 8th.

Warning: Before going to the link, or Googling Maurice Sendak quotes (which I highly recommend) be aware he is a very grumpy guy from time to time - strong language will occur in many of his quotes and does so in the list provided.

Finally, a little Maurice and his opinion on e-books.

I was curious as to the cause of their deaths. They all had long lives and they died of various ailments, sudden and chronic. I was wondering if cancer would dominate, but it did not. Nor did they want of companionship; despite their grumpyness, someone(s) loved them.
