The Comprehensive Guide to Regional Sandwiches of the United States

Serious Eats compiled a mouth-watering list of 48 sandwiches that can be found in different regions of the United States. I'm especially intrigued by this New York City concoction called a "bagel and lox." Its essential ingredients are a bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon. Yum!

Bagels and Lox aren't just a New York thing... any sizable Jewish community (especially an Ashkenazi community) will have them. And if we can't get lox, we'll put any kind of smoked fish on it. Hell, most Einstein's Bagels are in or near a shopping plaza... go to the store, get some smoked salmon, then grab a toasted cream cheese bagel and there you go.

The Spiedie is native to Binghamton, NY and can be imitated by marinating the meat in chimichurri that also contains mint. Great eats.
