Mr. Sputum, Public Health Super Hero!

When you least expect him, up pops Mr. Sputum! A public service ad campaign in India uses a "super hero" to encourage people to get checked for tuberculosis if they have a cough that persists for two weeks. The character's name in Hindi is Bulgam Bhai, which translates to "Mr. Sputum." The campaign has a hotline that received over 1,600 calls in the campaign's first month. Most TB strains are curable, especially if caught early, which is the goal of the humorous campaign. See Mr. Sputum in action at National Geographic News. Link
