I just want to remind anyone who halfway remembers that lyric as 'a David Allen Coe song' that the Immortal Bard in question was actually songwriter Steve Goodman (who Coe actually mentions by name between verses). That song almost singlehandedly made one of my worst jobs, running an automated country radio station, semi-tolerable, and for that, to Goodman and Coe, I will be forever grateful.
