Jim Henson's Weird Short Film "Time Piece"

This 1966 short film written by, directed by and starring Jim Henson clinched an Academy Award nomination. What does it mean? Henson's company says that the film addresses "the effect of time keeping on us all." I think that the center of the film is the gorilla. The gorilla is the prime mover of the universe. He rules all of the other characters, though they do not know it.
