Joel Allen, a software engineer, hoped to retire at 26. That plan fell through. But he did build a little place to retreat to, which is a good compromise. The HemLoft is a cabin that he made in British Columbia over a few summers. It's a thing of beauty: simple colors, graceful curves, and just enough space for his needs.

It boils down to this - if the government allows this guy's lovely and charming hut to stay on public land, what happens when the next person builds something wacky and kooky. And what about the person who builds something ugly and sprawling? Or the person who goes with damaging and intrusive?
The point of having public lands is so that EVERYONE gets to encounter and share undisturbed natural spaces. No matter how adorable this guy's hut is, he should have built it somewhere else. I think he should take it down and rebuild it on property he can lease or buy.
it is a cute tree house, but he wasn't very thoughtful when he put it up where he did.
