In the UK we have smoky bacon flavour crisps, from what I can gather visiting yanks find flavours like this very strange

Indeed, we have lots of meaty flavours for crisps in the UK, and we're big on 'novelty' flavours too, like burger and fries or baked potato or spaghetti bolognese. That said, those flavours are usually terrible, but other people seem to like them.

I'm told that the US doesn't have blackcurrant flavouring either. Very popular in the UK.

Lays has odd marketing. They'll only sell certain flavors in certain parts of the country, not others. Personally, I like to try different flavors, but will never be able to unless I'm willing to go on a long road trip. Seems weird to me.
