In the 1960s TV series Batman, celebrities often made short cameos by popping their heads out a window when Batman and Robin climbed up and down the walls of tall buildings. How many of the 14 can you name? -via Boing Boing
Whats so sad is that so many of these great people are gone now.
I used to love the show as a kid, but at the time I never clocked that these were celebrity cameos. By coincidence my son has just started watching reruns of the show in the last couple of weeks and he has no clue who these people are either.
Miss Cellania's your "***(not sure)" person is Howard Duff. During this time he was starring on a TV series called "Felony Squad". I'm sure most of the people that appeared during the show had TV specials or shows that they wanted promoted, not unlike they do today.
OK, help me out with the one I can't figure out or recall:
Jerry Lewis Dick Clark The Green Hornet & Kato/Van Williams and Bruce Lee Sammie Davis, Jr. Jose Jimenez/Bill Dana ***(not sure) Colonel Klink/Werner Klemperer Lurch/Ted Cassidy Don Ho Santa Claus/Andy Devine Art Linkletter Edward G. Robinson Suzy Knickerbocker (a gimme) Carpet King (is he a celebrity?)
I watched the Batman series religiously when I was a child, but I don't remember these cameos! I could identify all of them except the last two. One question: does the criminal element of Gotham City all keep their headquarters in the same building?
