The latest marketing stunt for the Alien prequel Prometheus is a TED Talk from the year 2023. Peter Weyland is the founder of Weyland Industries, which will later become the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, referred to as simply "the company" by the crew of the Nostromo in the 1979 movie Alien. The movie Prometheus is scheduled to hit theaters in May and June, depending on what country you are in. Link -via The Daily What Geek
Afraid the Great Unwashed might gain access to your ivory tower? lol
I never did get the TED worship thing. Sure, it's a great name, but do they actually do anything besides talk?
Very nifty from the perspective of the movie. But I do not understand why TED wanted to go along with this. Now the great unwashed will forever associate TED with huge corporations who pretend but in reality DO NOT have our best interests in mind.
All of the real TED Talks I've seen have had speakers who want to take the audience with them, to share their experiences and inspire others. This speaker would never make the grade - with his contempt for the audience and his arrogant demeanour he is exactly what TED is not.
