Twilight Engagement Photos

Do you ever look into the eyes of your beloved while watching a Twilight movie and say "It's just like how we met"? If there's a model for sound marriage, it's Bella and Edward. So Lindsay and Ferdinand arranged for K&K Photography to shoot pictures as though they were Stephanie Meyer's characters.

Question: when did professional engagement photos become a thing?

I was married in 1994 and we had an engagement photo done. It was sent out with the invitations. It was common practice in our community and surrounding areas for as long as I can remember. My Mom's fridge always had a couple wedding invitations and their accompanying photos stuck to it.

Well, if that's what she wanted, and her fiance is fine with it, then more power to them.

I have a copy of my Great Grandmother's engagement photo and she was married back in 1893. So I would agree that they have always been the thing, and as Miss Cellania noted, it is traditional to post the announcement and photo in the papers.

I think engagement pictures are something wedding photographers are pushing as a chance to get to know the couple before the wedding, take good pictures of them and form a working relationship...
