Pizza Steamed Buns Sound Delicious - Neatorama

Chinese steamed buns stuffed with meats or other delicious fillings are always a treat, but Japan might have just upped the ante with their new pizza buns found at the local 7-Elevens.While the reviewer at Serious Eats doesn't seem to be too fond of the actual product, I think we can all agree that the idea has a lot of great potential.

What do you guys think? Yum or yuck?

These have been around for over a decade. The pizza rocks, but the lasagna they had a few years back is better.

My personal favorite: the Keema Curry bun from lawson.

Had them everywhere in Korea about a month ago. Pretty decent (relatively compared to other 7/11 type buns)

I've had steamed buns in Hong Kong,and I don't think I'd ever eat them again. Not that they were terrible, just the texture made it seem like your eating raw dough with filling.

If it had pizza ingredients, I'd still prefer it baked.

These aren't actually new they have been around 7 or 8 years now.

I imagine the problem would be the steaming. Steaming is not a good way to cook pizza.

Pizza is like sex: when it's not amazing, it is still pretty good. Well, actually sex has way much more chances of going wrong. It's pizza, how can it be wrong?

You get these bad boys in some of Thailand's 7-11s, and they are, at best, not pleasant...

We had this here in the Hawaiian 7-11's and they weren't bad. Generally, you'd only want it for the peperoni and stretchy cheese filling. The sauce was a generic tomato sauce, and the bread was a bit thicker...I'm assuming to hold the pizza filling in.

It was only available for a short time (a month I think) so unfortunately I was only able to get one. I do hope they bring it back!
