Bethesda Wins Rights To Fallout MMO - Neatorama

Good news everyone! A Fallout MMO is now on its way, thanks to the lawsuit between Bethesda and Interplay being settled for $2 million dollars.

Bethesda has been waiting to get to work on the Fallout online game for over five years now, so I'm sure it will become a reality sooner rather than later, and I think it would offer a refreshing change from the standard fantasy and sci-fi titles which currently dominate the market.

Gamers, what do you think? Would you enjoy playing a Fallout MMO, or are you all massively multiplayered out?

as a big fallout fan i am dissapointed that i won't get to play any more fallout games

mmos aren't my thing

i don't like relying on other people as part of a game experience and i have no interest in using games as a means to make friends or socialize. i would rather play an rpg style game with npcs and then go to the bar and socialize.

Considering what a complete clusterfuck of a bugfest Skyrim is I don't think it bodes well for Bethesda to make something as infinitely more complex as an MMO (or even MMORPG) is. The game would have to blow anything we've seen thus far out of the water to be worthwhile for people already caught up in WoW and SWTOR, and doing so without having a buttload of bugs and not to mention feeling like a badly ported console game on the PC.

Is Bethesda up for it? Doubtful.

Fallout has always been as much about the game play system as it is about the setting. It doesn't matter who is making it. You can't stop time in an MMO, and without VATS Fallout isn't Fallout, now is it?
