There are a lot of people who critique the Disney princesses as being poor role models for little girls. I wonder if they'd change their tune if they were more empowered like the X-(Wo)Men.
I just love the Bell/Rogue mash-up. That is my favorite Rogue outfit, and it blends so well with the Bell look.
Personally, I think that Tiana and Bell are fantastic role models for young girls. They are both smart, driven, and caring individuals. In this case, I think that Ariel is the odd girl out. Though she is the most beloved character of my childhood, and I will point out that she shows the power of looking beyond prejudice and standing up (quite literally) for what you believe in even if it means making sacrifices.
It took me awhile to realize who Ariel was, her face seems really weird to me. It's very cute and I agree I never thought the Disney Princesses were that bad as far as role models go. I always loved Belle as a kid because she was different, bookish, and brave (all things I thought I was myself, hah) Back to Ariel, her right shoulder freaks me out and the draping of the fabric on her left arm is completely impossible unless there's a hole in the back of the cape that her arm is sticking through. ;)
My preschooler loves the Disney princesses, but she's been in a superhero phase for the past week. She wraps a small blanket around her neck and runs around the house rescuing people and stuffed animals. I love it! Superheroes are much better role models.
You know ApparatusMini, when someone writes "there are a lot of people," it doesn't mean they are one of those people. I always looked up to Belle when I was younger and I think she is a great role model, but that doesn't change the fact that yes, a lot of people still critique the Disney princesses.

I thought Neatorama was better than this.
