Hello from Baltimore. Have shoveled out twice this week (Sunday and Thursday). Schools closed, as are many businesses. Main roads passable, secondary streets not so much. Store shelves empty (everybody stocked up last week, no deliveries this week). Roofs collapsing from the weight of the snow. That satellite photo? Yup, I feel like I shoveled that much! And guess what--we're supposed to get MORE SNOW ON SUNDAY!!!!!!

It's bearing down upon us like a shotgun full of snow. Damn you snow!

We're just 5 minutes from Baltimore Washington Airport and we, too, have shoveled out twice. A plow got stuck outside our house last night, so stuck that ANOTHER PLOW had to come tow it out. It's pretty nuts. We're just happy we never lost our power.

Being a teacher I've been off the whole week, so getting to work was never a worry for me. While the shoveling has gotten pretty old, it's actually been kind of nice to be able to stay home and catch up on some things around the house. And we've finally met some of our neighbors, since we just moved into our house 5 months ago.

I'm in baltimore too. we are bunkered in here. 4 adults and an almost 1 yr old. Running out of everything, had to tromp thru the snow today to get some diapers. Luckily there is a Dollar General store very close. I got plenty of milk before the snow started and froze some so we still have that. Only seen one plow and all they did was throw some sand down and leave, that was just before the second round. By that time, the neighbors and we had spent all day digging the street so people wouldn't get stuck. Most everything has been redug out today. There are piles and piles of snow all over the yards.
The snow has taken down 2 metal porch awnings so far in this block. 2 more are set to go any time.

My job keeps calling me to come in and clean snow off cars at the auto auction. I'm not dumb, I really don't want to be covered in snow all day and then come home with pneumonia. It's not like it's a full time job or anything.

I'm sick of snow, know anywhere warm I can move to?

I'm in DC area. We got about 24" total. Tomorrow is my first day back at work since a week ago and then we get another 3-day weekend. The roads are finally clearing up. i hear we may get more snow Monday!

In Germantown here...I can now see pavement finally!!! We go a record 27 inches during the first storm, and 15 inches during the second storm. I have been in my house with my boyfriend for almost a week....save me!!

Another B'more Neatonaut here! We're hanging tough, last day of digging (hopefully) is over. It's really amazing to look around & see how much snow is just piled all OVER the place. As a bonus, I had to crawl halfway under the deck today to retrieve an escaped cat who would have frozen to death. Foolish creature!

I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow, it'll be relaxing.

Cinci here. Not near as bad as you guys! I really hope you're all okay! I think we're supposed to get *more* (on top of our 8-10") Saturday and Sunday.

There have been at least two storms in Baltimore within in the last 15 years worse than this.

I am not sure why this one gets all the media attention. Maybe because it hit DC as well when that it usually the southern limit of the big storms.

Although I (as a former WA resident) understand that the East Coast snowstorm is pretty nasty, I must say that y'all aren't the only ones snowed in. Here in North Texas it only takes about a foot to snow us in because no native Texan knows how to drive in the snow. I do, but since nobody else does I'm not going anywhere near a car or road today or tomorrow.

Did I say a foot of snow? In Texas?

Yes, here in Grand Prairie, TX (DFW) there is about 10 inches of snow on the ground and it's not supposed to stop falling (according to the clueless weathermen) for another five hours. I think it's wonderful and reminds me of my childhood winters, but everyone else down here is going nuts. And it's the great stuff that sticks together well for snowmen, too!

Northern DE here. Like Germantown, 27 inches on Saturday and, I think, 17 inches on Wednesday. Schools closed all week and my job closed Saturday, Wednesday and Thursday. I didn't have to shovel out at all. That's what I had kids for.

WEATHER: IT'S FANTASTIC!

I would expect that sort of unpreparedness in the lower states, where it doesn't normally snow.

That's pretty sad.

And you're all wimps. Seriously. Wimps.

I live in Oswego County, it you look at that satellite view, gander that lake fully in the frame, about center on the left, that's Lake Ontario, we live at the eastern (right) end of it. Oh, I should mention we get 180 inches a year. A. Year. 180. This is due to the lake effect snow machine, look that up if you don't know, but it can easily produce snow into the feet measured range in no time, a day, or less.

Everyone whining about snow don't know jack until you live in this area where your wimpy laughably nothing "blizzard" wouldn't even dent the daily grind. Heck, 6" wouldn't close school in these parts, neither would 12", you'll always find food on the store shelves, what you got is just another day up here.

Oh, and just north of me is Tug Hill, the snowiest place east of the Rockies, they get as much as 400" a year, and no, nobody panics, nobody freaks out, school, business, life goes on. Honestly all of us up here are laughing at the central east coast for being a bunch of pansies. Buck up people, you don't even know what snow is.

It was partly cloudy a couple days ago here in LA. I wore my scarf that has the silver stripes. But that's it, just the scarf, nothing else.
