A kitty in the UK was hit by a car and brought to an animal shelter, but released to the area she was found shortly after, since vets realized she had just had a litter of kittens. Right after she was released, she started howling and the person who brought her back followed her to her litter of kittens, who were severely dehydrated. Thanks to the cat's quick thinking and the attentiveness of the RSPCA inspector, her kittens were saved and the whole family made a speedy recovery.

Cats, no longer the heartless beast previously thought, communicated to humans with a distinct "meow". The humans discovered that this "meow" was nothing like that heard by food dishes. This could only have one explanation, there are missing kittens nearby. Not only does this fly in the face of modern scientific thought, but challenges mankind to acknowledge that a simple mammal has parental instincts, and advanced inter-species communication.

it is pretty interesting that this cat was aware that these people were there to help and was smart enough to communicate its needs to this person. i think animals are a lot smarter than they typically let on.
