The War of 1812: The Movie

(College Humor link)

Have you ever noticed that middle school American history classes tend to rush through the War of 1812 in order to get through the Civil War before the school year ends? College Humor imagines what it would have been like if the participants understood the conflict just as well as we do.-via Buzzfeed

I always thought that they glossed over the war of 1812 because it wasn't exactly a glamourous victory for the States. I mean, the White House got burned down.

I really doubt Canadians know much more about the War of 1812 than they do about the Revolutionary War or the American Civil War, or any other war.

At least not most of the Canadians I know.

Not only do we British not know much about that particular war, I'm fairly certain that most people over here haven't even heard of it. I've never seen it mentioned on TV, not even once, which is surprising given the number of history documentaries which are shown on British TV. Or perhaps the famous wars are all so well-known because they're made into one or more famous movies.
