Jewelry Made from Human Hair

Kerry Howley, an art student at Middlesex University, put together a jewelry collection made from human hair. In reference to how people think about hair, she's entitled it "Attraction/Aversion". Howley writes:

The necklaces are made of human hair, a material we are familiar with and take pride in. However once off of the body it becomes an innate source of aversion. I wanted to see if I could make discarded hair attractive again.

In other news, I discovered a hair in my pizza today. (True story.)

I just shrugged, took the hair out and continued eating everything. (Hoping it was just from the brush. Still alive though, as you can see.)

I hope she doesn't think this is something new. Hair art was popular in the 16th century and again in something like the 19th century.

At first I thought this was going to be something rather ghoulish but it's rather nicely carried off. I'm still trying to understand why people think a hair necklace isd gross when there are women gluing human hair extensions to their head daily and no-one seems to comment on that
