Japanese Pop Star Revealed To Be Fake

A Japanese pop group has fooled their fans by creating a fake member. No I don’t mean this was just another airhead pop star with no personality or talent. This was an actual non-existent computer generated person made from the faces of her band mates. The group even offers an app on its website that allows you do make a similar person mash up.
This week, Eguchi Aimi, the newest member of the all-girl Japanese pop group AKB48, was revealed to be a fake human. She was perfectly cute, but Eguchi was nothing more than a computer composite of her six band mates; she existed only in a virtual world. The bizarre, and clever, publicity stunt was unveiled in the above video, which shows exactly how the virtual beauty was created.

Nobody noticed the ears?

Anyway, the image that is presented to the outside world for most celebrities is totally fabricated anyway, so this is a nice one. :DDD

Actually, fans voted on their favorite features of each existing group member and those results were used to create a composite.

Revealing her to be "fake" and revealing her to be a digital composite are two different things. The character will be used by Glico in their commercials.

That's nothing! There's a totally synthetic Japanese pop star who will be giving a live concert in Los Angeles this July. Hatsune Miku is a "Character Voice" created by Crypton Future Media for use in Yamaha's Vocaloid music synthesizer. The character has attracted a rabid fan following, and she has been singing to sell-out crowds in Japan. The L.A. concert has been sold out for weeks. I just watched the Hatsune Miku video linked above. Someone please tell me all those people rocking out in the crowd were paid to be there. Because if they weren't--if they paid their own hard-earned yen to go to that show--then I feel kind of dead inside.
