Life-Sized Piglet Made out of Pork

Sophie H. Powell and Bonnie Moriarty made this life-sized piglet out of bacon and sausage in order to:

[...] illustrate how pigs are born into this world entirely to be eaten. Even when free range they are trapped by their original purpose.

This can be applied to almost all animals. I don't know but if this is meant to say how cruel we are or how awful or anything along those lines. Well, if it's not us eating them, it's lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

oh man we better stop eating all these plants we've changed to be better producers through domestication as well. Plants have feelings too! Brb, making a plant out of plants and then having the whole thing spoil in the sun so it's not edible.

Newsflash, everyone dies. At least their dead bodies are more useful than ours. And animals don't long for a sense of purpose like people do. So it's not cruel to raise animals for sustenance, assuming they aren't treated cruelly when they're alive. Is it less bad if we eat animals that aren't born to be eaten? Why don't these people do something more useful with their time, like try to help starving CHILDREN instead of worrying about pigs. yeesh

Aren't human morals the only morals? I don't think pigs or any other animals mull over the implications of their actions.

A pig doesn't care if it was born to be consumed. It's just a pig. It wants to be a pig, and it doesn't give a shit when it dies, because it's a pig for chrissakes.

People need to stop humanizing animals. They're not people.

Arguing morals on the internet is less productive than sitting down together over a delicious pork roast, and discussing the issue person to person.

"And the angel of the Lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber, and took me on high,
and higher still until we moved in the spaces betwixt the air itself. And he bore me unto a vast farmland of our own midwest, and as we descended cries of impending doom rose from the soil. one thousand, nay, a million voices full of fear.

And terror possessed me then.

And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?"

And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots. You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust."

And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat
like the tears of one millions terrified brothers
and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light, they have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul. damn you! let the rabbits wear glasses,
save our brothers...can I get an amen? can I get a hallelujah?

Hey, I never said I was a vegetarian.

So I have no morals.(If that's your logical conclusion from that statement.) I am a realist. (And a cynic; or in other words: I would be a vegetarian if it wasn't so damned hard.)

I am also not a vegetarian, however I do care deeply about the manner in which my meat is raised and butchered.

-and it doesn't give a shit when it dies, because it's a pig for chrissakes.-

Of course it doesn't care WHEN it dies, but im sure it cares HOW it dies and if was abused and hurt in the process. Those who carelessly say, bacon is good! without fully understanding where that bacon comes from are fooling themselves. If any meat lover took the time to see the horrific way animals are treated in americas slaughterhouses, im sure you might change your tune. I eat meat, but I take the time to search out farms that are cruelty free and certified humane. Farms that allow their animals to live like they would in the wild, not crammed into pens with no room to move while they defecate all over each other. If they are good enough to consume, than they should be good enough to be treated with respect.

the when part was in reference to the fact of its death, not the time. I meant that a pig doesn't care THAT it dies. It feels no fear of death. Yes, absolutely it can feel terror if it dies poorly, but if slaughtered humanely, I don't think it feels much of anything. And I absolutely agree that ALL animals, whether destined for the plate, or anywhere else, should be treated well. It's just the right thing to do, and frankly they taste better when they're happy anyway!
