What Is It? game 178

It is once again time for our collaboration with the always amusing What Is It? Blog. Do you know what this thing is? Can you take a wild guess?

Place your guess in the comment section below. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many as you'd like. Post no URLs or weblinks, as doing so will forfeit your entry. Two winners: the first correct guess and the funniest (albeit ultimately wrong) guess will each win a T-shirt from the NeatoShop.

Please write your T-shirt selection alongside your guess. If you don't include a selection, you forfeit the prize, okay? May we suggest the Science T-Shirt, Funny T-Shirt and Artist-Designed T-Shirts?

Check out the What Is It? Blog for more pictures of this object. Let your imagination run wild, and good luck!

Update: Porkhurst was the first of many with the correct answer. This object is a lunar tong, designed for picking up moon rocks! However, he did not select a shirt. Swami won a t-shirt for the funniest answer:
If you are familiar with "Treasure Island", you will recall the luau when John Silver is barbecuing ribs and he almost burned off his beard rearranging the fire, that's what inspired him to invent the device pictured above: Long Tong Silvers.
Groan!

It is a grabber/gripper/picker, presumably in a „normally closed“ configuration. May be used for picking fruits, picking trasch, or the like. The funniest version would be to pick items from an aquarium such as sea urchin like creatures..
Still poorely guessing...

It is a device for giving head massages from a long distance away, useful when having to give head massages to extremely tall or unpleasantly smelly people.

It is a Pecan Picker. I used them with at my Grandmother's house. They either have a lever which opens the spring a bit or just uses downward force to pry open spring to gather the pecans. Prevents you from having to pick up the pecans by bending over.

This is a rock sampling capture device used by astronauts performing survey and experiments on the moon as part of the Apollo Program (Missions: 11, 12, 14-17).

Lunar Tongs - for picking up small samples of moon rock because the space suits were too stiff to be able to bend over and pick up samples of rocks.

I believe its the device to pick up hot rocks to place in a steam sauna. This device would be used to reach into the fire or hot coals to remove rocks to place into sauna.

First prototype for a cow milking machine. Invented by Phineas Snodgrass as a way of preventing injury to the milker from the cow kicking/thrashing about. Strangely ,It was found to be much better for tickling cows but this revelation only happened after discovery that they were male not female cows.

Presume, the device they actualy used on the moon, is still there, (I think they preferred to use the payload for samples) it was costley enough to bring it up. they surely did not pay for bringing it back...

And this, AshleyZ, is what we used to hang onto the apple-sized moon while we landed the mini astronauts and their tiny spaceship on it!

It's a head lice picker/grabber. The extra long arm prevents the lice from jumping onto the nurse who has to inspect the kids' heads. Every elementary school has at least one lice grabber per class room.

This is an tool used to ensure children go straight to bed and not dawdle or ask for another glass of water. It's called "Monster Under the Bed" tool. One parent would hide under the child's bed with the tool while the child was in the bathroom brushing his teeth. The other parent would put the child to bed and turn off the light and leave. IF the child tried to get out of bed the "MUTB" tool would snake out and grab the child's ankle. This tool worked much better than the "MITC" (Monster In The Closet) tool, IMO. Very effective, although this tool has fallen out of favor with all of those human rights organizations saying it's cruel and psychologically disturbing to the kids. Hey! It stopped them from wanting another glass of water. So what's a little crying?
