What Is It? game 175

It's time for our collaboration with the always amusing What Is It? Blog. Can you guess what the pictured item is? Great guesses win prizes!

Place your guess in the comment section below. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many as you'd like. Post no URLs or weblinks, as doing so will forfeit your entry. Two winners: the first correct guess and the funniest (albeit ultimately wrong) guess will win T-shirt from the NeatoShop.

Please write your T-shirt selection alongside your guess. If you don't include a selection, you forfeit the prize, okay? May we suggest the Science T-Shirt, Funny T-Shirt and Artist-Designed T-Shirts?

For more photos of this object, check out the What Is It? Blog. Good luck!

Update: It took a while, but Edward K had the right answer. This is a pet ID holder. You can slip paper inside it and attach it to a dog's collar. The funniest answer came from Randall, who called it "A hummelfubertapfer. Scandenavian beer drinker would use this timy hammer to break of the ice that formed on their beer as they drank it. This led to the colloquial joke of 'Is that your wife's nose or a Hummelfubertapfer?' after which the the joke's subject would either fly into a rage or laugh uproarously, depending on their level of inebriation." Both win t-shirts from the NeatoShop!

The head of a very small hammer/mallet such as a watchmaker’s hammer or a jewellers mallet maybe even in a „dead blow“ version i.e. the cavity is to be filled with granules powder?

Table cloth hanger (that may be filled with different loads to be adapted to different wind conditions from air for a gentle breeze up to an iridium filling for moderate tornados) unformtunately the clothes pin to connect it to the table cloth seem to be lost...

A hollow container (or even a dead drop) to hide a drug such as kocaine (a poison, or even spyware such as micro dots .. or a minox film?) or other ... presumably for illegal use..

if it is a HO size model railway environment equipment, i won't be surprised. presumably for a kind of liquid containger carrying vehicle, wherein the Barrel may be secured to the vehilce by a pin that may be inserted through the hole (event though this would not provide a conclusive explanation for the trreading)... if it must be relatively old as plastic took over this field long ago..

That would be a "Keg Gavel." It is used to signal the start of a night of hardcore boozing. The Grand Poo-ba a.k.a. Master of Ceremonies strikes it on any surface strikable which signals the keg operator to begin filling cups.

I think it is a bicycle break cable terminating device.
the cable cames in through the centre num, lead was poured in and the threaded cap, to make it look good.

It's a tap for a keg. Very very small kegs. You removed the cork from the bunghole, and insert this to access the beer. Wine kegs have wine shaped ones, liquor has bottle shaped.

Seriously, I thought this was bigger. I just noticed the coin next to it. It is probably one of those tuning screws from a musical instrument.

It's a pet ID tag. Inside of the barrel would contain a piece of paper with the pet owners info... name, address, phone, etc. I have several of these.
