Homemade Shotgun Built out of a Pipe and a Stapler

(Video Link)

YouTube user GatheringSticks is quite a garage machinist! He's built a functional single-shot 12 gauge shotgun from a pipe and a stapler. The firing pin is a sharpened drill bit and the shoulder rest is padded with a piece of a Croc.

via Everyday, No Days Off

Lets see....

Burning Gunpowder, 30,000-50,000 psi
Internal Port (back) Pressure, 10,000-12,000 psi
Conversion of Gunpowder into heat, energy - 48%,48% (with 2/3 going to the bullet and 1/3 to the gases)
Ratio of Pre/post burn (i.e. soot) - about 60/40.

1" Schedule 80 Pipe (@100 F), 3,950 psi burst

Best clean that barrel after each shot REALLY carefully or BOOM.

Actually, old defunct shotgun barrels are easily found, at gunshows, antique shops, or even some garbage dumps. That solves the pressure problem. The transplanted trigger mechanism from the stapler - good idea. Weak point: the lockup. Wouldn't ever shoot it from the shoulder, because that'd put the blowup right under your nose.

Maybe he can use the left-over staples to close his facial lacerations.
He gets bonus points for painting it black - its a primordial AR.

even though, I bet he wishes he would have ponied up $150 on that used mossberg pump when the skin grafts start to itch.

>>Paging Dr Darwin .... Dr Darwin to ER ...... Dr Darwin to ER

That's the modern problem: these days they are keeping the idiots alive. Darwin is turning in his grave...

PS: Just saw the movie Idiocracy. ;)
