Amazon sells the Contech Electronics CRO101 Scarecrow Motion-Activated Sprinkler. The normal purpose of such a device is to scare pets and wildlife (and maybe kids) away from your lawn or garden. However, many folks have their own ideas of how it should be used, as you'll see in the seven pages of customer-submitted images. http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B000071NUS/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_all -via b3ta

My wife and I live in a small village with tight lots and walking distance to a lot of bars. I bought one of these several years ago because there was a skunk sulking around our yard after dark and we didn't want the dog to get sprayed. It worked like a charm.

We got a bonus when a bunch of drunk people tried to use our patio as a late night pizza eating spot. We woke up to the sound of angry, wet confusion as they fled our yard. This thing now stands vigil every summer night. If only it had a webcam on it....

In the real world, it does not work. Deer, possums, skunks, and coyotes may be startled by it but soon as they get used to the noise, it becomes useless. Except as a sprinkler, of course.
In the real world, nothing works as well as a Pitbull with a concealed carry permit. Or a Mossberg.
