I may be the outlier so far, but I loved this book. I just finished reading it, and I really got into it. It's a story of foolishness and a struggle to maintain power over someone you love. I can understand why people would dislike it, though.

The original book of the Godfather was pretty god awful now that you mention those books too. Popularity does not equal quality.

I think I read it, buy I can't remember a single thing about it, except I think the hero was killed in an auto crash, just like F Scott.

Same as Catcher in The Rye. Not sure why some books were actually popular.
