Worldwide Per Capita Coffee Consumption

According to data compiled by environmental think tank World Resources Institute, Scandinavians drink a lot of coffee. Between 6.8 and 12.0 kilograms per year. So world travelers, does this map match up with your experiences?

The map shows that the colder the climate the more coffee is consumed and the equatorial countries drink the least. What is interesting is that coffee can only be grown in the areas where it is least popular and cannot be grown in areas where it is most popular

The Scandinavians I know drink really strong coffee. I mean strong, not just Starbucks Dark Roast strong, I mean spoon practically stands up in it strong. That could be a reason for the high per capita consumption

@graymccarty: I disagree, and I'm not the only one.

People who drink Tim Horton's are caffeine addicts and not coffee lovers. Van Houtte (from Couche Tard or Mac's) is much better. The best is still home made drip coffee :)
