Vikersundbakken -- the world's highest ski jump -- opened this past week in Norway. Its staggering 440-foot height allowed champion jumper Johan Remen Evensen to set a new world record by jumping 797 feet. The above video shows that jump. Too bad you probably have to be a pro not to kill yourself on it.
Maybe they will offer tandem rides on it so you can go down with a pro, like sky diving

In other words, how much is skill (and to some extent the equipment) and how much is simple gravity and the angle of the slope beneath the jump?
Just look at the 'still' of the video clip (the one I see), at his form when he's in the air – he's almost completely flat forward, parallel to his skis. Woah! It's a crazy sport.
