The Economist created a map of the United States that matches each state with a national economy of comparable size as measured by Gross Domestic Product in 2009. It's interactive. So at the link, you can hover your cursor over each state and get more detailed information.

Sorry, didn't finish before clicking submit... I meant, how can little ole Texas make as much money as the whole of Russia? I mean Russia is huge and they have all that gas and oil and stuff... Wow. GO, Texas! Or should I be appalled for the Russian economy?

I have to question Massachussetts having an economy the size of Saudi Arabia's... Really? Saudi? With all that OIL??? I have a hard time believing that.

It's funny how West Virginia kinda looks like Iraq reversed, and is labeled as similar economically. Oh well, I guess one could make the same inane comment about the relational shapes of North Carolina and Sweden. So I will refrain from comment. Um, what?
