The Ropen or ‘demon flyer' is a monstrous animal that is said to have terrified the natives of Papua New Guinea for thousands of years. Another smaller animal, known as the Duah, is possibly related to the Ropen, a cryptid creature said to haunts some of the far-flung outlying islands.
The flying animals described are said to "glow" in the dark, as reported both by locals and researchers. It has been hypothesized that the bio-luminescent glow assists the animals' effort to hunt and catch food in the deep darkness of the tropical night. One of the researchers, David Woetzel, has said that he recorded images of the animals while studying them.

Seriously, David Woetzel says he has "images" of the things, whatever they are. Where are these pictures?

The image shows two vague round lights. No way are these things pterodactyls. I'm calling shenanigans on this one.
Be grouse if it did exist. I want one as a pet. It could solve my cat problem.
These "researchers" are clearly looking for the means to a creationist end.
My guess is these large, nocturnal, bioluminescent creatures Papua New Guineans have been spotting are large, pale coloured owls (of which there are many species native to the country). I have had owls swoop near me at night before and believe me it seems as though they are monstrously HUUGE until you actually get a good look at them with a night vision camera.
If you treck into the deepest, darkest depths of the jungles of Papua New Guinea, you'll find a pterosaur, big foot, Nessie, the abominable snowman, and a bunyip having a tea party.
Creationism is fun, no wait, pitiful.
The entire article screams "Bigfoot exists" until the last paragraph, where it quietly states "maybe it was just human error, and maybe Bigfoot doesn't really exist".
With or without an agenda, claptrap is still claptrap.

Here are some pics of a tiny pterosaur that inhabits an island not so very far from New Guinea:
