10 Buildings Shaped Like What They Sell

Foolproof advertising is when your entire building brags about your product -and it's visible from far away. Still, it may tend to limit your customers when you sell the location. Mental_floss takes a look at ten such attention-grabbing buildings from this milk bottle ice cream stand to an 85-foot chest of drawers! Link

Hey Miss C.. Nice post again :-) What is your favourite building? I'd say the library's garage! Also because some of my favourite books are used...

Cheers, keep up the good work,
HappyJ

That's a great idea! Of course i'm guessing you cannot do that with every types of products can you? Although i would love to see huge socks or teddy bears in the city center of my hometown !!!

Neat photos and link.

I am from the UK and think we would struggle to get around our planning laws for think like that.

Where are you based? do you get any negative vibes from the local planning depts??

cheers

Very inovative marketing design.
Wouldn't it be great for new or existing brands to travel around some cities with these 'buildings'.
A good way to impulse people and leave a good memory!
Where is this one located?

Best regards,

Wendy

Just great! At Madrid airport there is somenthing similar but in this case is a gigant Danone's yoghurt! I love it. And the frozen yoghurt they sell in is...mmm yummy! Congrats for your blog.

This is fun! It is just so interes]ting to see where peoples' creativity goes. An idea for following blogs - places where they hace mascots who look like the product the sell. That might be fun as well! Keep doing great job :)

I am pretty sure the world would be a much much happier place if everything were made to look like that! Can you imagine being somewhere you didn't know and looking for a pub to go to, all you would have to do is wander around until you saw a building that looked like a pint glass.
It would certainly make searching for a toilet a lot easier when you are desperate. What would you like your house to be shaped like?
Keep up the blogging and have a very HAPPY Wednesday! X

Budget day here in Ireland, more doom and gloom forecast, if Ireland were a building it would be a big, empty bubble full of hot air, no change that 'cold' air, it's freezing here and I ain't just talking the economy. In desperate need of a new coat. Go on make my dreary, budget day a litle more happy and reply to me asap. 'Green is the colour'. Love and Peace. x Nuala

Well done Miss C... fascinating post. I'd honestly never seen any such buildings.

Funny to notice that the majority of them are in the US! I wonder if there are any outside of Turkmenistan... hmmm...

Wonderful whimsical architecture!

This is a very innovative marketing. I thing that in a world filled with different advertising it is important to have a different idea. Surely everyone noticed those buildings that bring smile to every viewer. And that is what is important. To be HAPPY and different, innovative things bring smile...

McDonalnds Lamp Post is also a good example of innovative marketing.

Have a happy smiling day.

Amazing designs, do you know of any architect specialized on this kind of building??

All buildings are great but the ones I like the most are Kansas City's library and the furneturesland's. Amazing!

This is the great thing about architecture today, you can almost build whatever you want, I have seen the Munich one in person but now there are few that I really need to see in person, the basket and the chest of drawers... :) At the moment I am researching some other building like those to see if there is one close to where I am :). Once I saw a van shaped like a lemon...even vans that looks like what they sell might be an interesting topic :D if you are interested i can look for the picture and send it to you...Thank you for share those funny building!!

It´s funny and original at the same time. You can´t be wrong going that place. How about a muffin shape building? Doesn´t it taste delicious?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
haha, that's great. Absolutely foolproof when they are selling what they look like. Although I would be somewhat confused if I found that wonderfull book-shaped building to be a parking garage. Wouldn't you?

Indeed a great form of advertising, it must be really successful :)

It would be nice to collect all pictures of such buildings in a collection to share. That'd be an amazing set, don't you think ? :)

It would also make for a very good excuse for a nice trip around the globe! :D

I hope, though, they'll never go out of business as selling that building would be very though!

Amazing! Where was the pic taken? It`s so funny! I wish we could have buildings like this in The Netherlands. It would be so much funnier going shopping! I wonder if Jack Daniels has something like it, at least I think the pic is from the USA? Or is it the UK? Would like to hear from you about it!

Have a nice and happy Wednesday!

kind regards,

Miss Cellania, great link, have you ever seen the building of Lucy the elephant in New Jersey or The donut hole in La Puente California? If anyone wants to find out more about the subject of Novelty Architecture check out, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novelty_architecture. Its a good first step. Thanks for the post.

Hi miss Celliana
As you can realize I´ve just arrive here as many other people for the clothing competition.

I want to apologize for such a kind of interference asking silly things in your blog

Fortunately we´ll only ruin this entry

Amazing buildings. People must use their imagination more frequently :D .
I would like to see how it would be a building for a chocolate seller. If exists and you have the pic I will love your blog eternally :D!

Pd: ye, I do really love chocolate :3

Excellent Idea, I think it really attracts customers this way, and that is what marketing is all about. I am from Gibraltar, unfortunately we have little land, but we could make a little space for a building like these. Oh by the way do you deliver to Gibraltar?

Thanks

WOW!! Nice buildings... ;)

Never thought that they could realy exist!! This looks like those kiosks we can by in the facebook games... :D

You'll never go to bed without knowing 1, 2, or 3 new things.

Hello, this is a cool post. Stumbled upon your blog... Or if I was more honest, my bro sent me a link cos he knows I love funky architecture and design.

England would be a happier place if we had more buildings like these!

oi oi. This reminded me of those 20 things you should see or 15 places to go in the christmas you get on msn, only better. When i was in norfolk we went past a giant strawberry! and the darth vader thing is awesome. you have to be so clever to make them. I love all of your blog to be honest, i probably shouldnt go on and on about it or you may get bored. It seems extremely popular! how long have you been blogging? i recently started one myself but it failed magnificantly. >_<
yours however, is amazin!

That is amazing! I can't believe that buildings like this exist! If you could be there I reckon it would be like being in "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" hehe!
What kind of item would you supersize to make a building out of?
I would make a big shiny disco ball!

I don't know if the mod of this website is very happy with the fload of happy poeple, just hunting for a free piece of clothing. But I can tell you at least it let me have a look around on your website en the 10 buildings. The picture of Kansas City Public Library’s parking garage is my favourite. A very nice way to dress up a parking garage. This is something that more architects of garages should do.
Happy Greetings from Holland

If the shape of a monument would be in relationship of his function, the washinton monument would rather be a tribute to Bill Clinton.

And what would the place look like where you would live?
