What If The Largest Countries Had The Largest Populations?

This map rearranges the world by correlating the population of a country to actual size. Some countries (the United States, Yemen, Brazil and Ireland) remain in their original location. India has replaced Canada on the map. I'd better start packing my bags because Canada is located way over in Pakistan.

Neat.
But they seem to think my home province of Newfoundland (island on the east coast Canada, replaced with the country of Sint Maarten) is a country.

Good luck trying to support a billion people on the tundra of Siberia or Canada, or 130 million in the deserts of Australia. Not to mention moving the population of Vietnam to Greenland...

Interesting that they decided to go with countries and outlying areas, though I suppose that the map wouldn't really match up if they didn't.

Israel is replaced by Estonia, and Lebanon is apparently the Solomon Islands...which I guess is its own country and I really didn't know that. Palestinian Territory is Luxembourg.

Hmmm...I cant tell if the labeling is weird and Palestine is what's replaced by Luxembourg, or if the area Luxembourg is in is the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem. It looks like the map they chose chopped off the internationally-unrecognized annex of those Jordanian areas and made them their own country. Odd.

@Dutchmen
St. Maarten is a part of the kingdom of the Netherlands since a long time. The thing that changed is that the intermediate Netherlands Antilles dissapeared as organisation in that kingdom. The kingdom used to be: the Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, now it is: the Netherlands, Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten. The other smaller islands now have the status of special municipalities of the Netherlands (Saba, Statia, Bonaire). So St. Maarten is a country now, tied to the Netherlands (more or less like the British commonwealth). You'll see the next summer olympics, that is if they have any athletes.
I.e. this only counts for the Dutch part of the island, the French part Saint Martin is a part of France...I suppose.

Interesting to realise how Russia screws up the political agenda over the past 90 years when you see how mediocre their population actually is.

And in Europe Borat finally can do maximum damage with most glorious nation of kazakstan.

@bjw: I am pretty sure St Maarten was put in the spot of the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, which is off the coast of your home province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
