Police Arrested Teen for Sharing "Federally Free" Chicken Nugget at Lunch

Sharing your chicken nuggets during school lunchtime? I've got two words for you: LAW BREAKER!

Adam was accused of stealing chicken nuggets from a $2.60 meal. Those are the nuggets his friend, Gakaree Garner, gave to him. Garner says, "Although that month I was fasting so I couldn't eat meat, and we had chicken nuggets that day."

Garner gave the nuggets to Adam, who got in the lunch line to get some sauce for them. According to Garner and the police report the cafeteria cashier told the Assistant Principal Adam stole the chicken nuggets. The Assistant Principal then told the police officer in the school, who called a squad car. Garner says, "They actually put him in handcuffs, and actually tried to force him into the car."

Ava Hernandez says, "They were like, 'Well do you know that friend receives federally free lunch?', and I said, 'I do now.', and they said, 'Well, it's illegal to share a free lunch so either way Adam was breaking the law'."

Were they worried about the taxpayers' money? Because I'm sure it wasted exponentially more to send out the cops. Not to mention embarrassing the poor kid who gave away his nuggets.

Hi to people from USA .
I hope that you are aware that your states are actually sliding toward fascism :(.
Fat cops with teasers to control slightest misbehave , and possibility for up to 15 years of jail time for filming cops in action. WTF ?

You guys really do live in a police state don't you? How can the police decide to arrest somebody for theft when the "victim" hasn't complained? How come the police officer still has a job? How come the cashier still has a job?

The fact is that the neither the police officer, the assistant principal or the cashier bothered to check with the "victim" if they had a problem. And the only reason I can see for that is that those adults are comfortable with the idea that they live in a police state where you handcuff first and arrest later.

this is becoming commonplace in us schools...arrest first and think later...but ya know this is exactly what y'all asked for when you forced zero tolerance laws down the throats of everybody...yes soccer moms i'm talking to you...you can't have it both ways...either give kids a bit of freedom and the risk that goes with it, or shut up and visit them when they get hauled off for something trivial

@Jolly -
While arresting someone for chicken nugget "theft" when they are given freely is waaaaaayyyy over the line, I'm all for the police arresting people for theft even without a complaint. If somebody steals my car while I'm sleeping and the cops catch him before I wake up, I don't think he should get to go free because I hadn't reported a stolen car, yet.

Just think about how many instances go uncovered by the media and go unchecked. A 120lb boy got expelled in my old high school for supposedly pushing down a 300lb security guard even though the security footage didn't show this happening. School systems definitely need to be reformed.

One of the characterisitcs of fascism is that the full weight of authority falls into line to support even the most minor official, even when that official is completely wrong.

to the indignant foreigners:

"You're a great country, but please, wake up."

"Free country? Hahahaha, yeah right. Keep telling yourself that."

"Hi to people from USA .

what the fuck do you expect us to actually DO about all this?

we're open to suggestions. oh and FYI we've tried voting and writing our senators already. it doesn't work.

I hear you brother. WTF are we supposed to do? Basically we have no choice but to bend over and accept it. It sickens me to think about how bad things are getting with our blossoming police state. Protests don't help. Voting doesn't solve anything. Blogging/reporting? Puhleaze. It seems like the only citizens that are happy about how things are going are the old folks who know they will be able to ride out their SS (that wasn't raped away from them) until they die.

Big Brother will be charitable for you with your money, but you'd better not get any unapproved charitable impulses with the loot that they rightfully stole form you to give to you.
