I think the Cheshire Cat was one of the first mugs made by UPG. We haven't heard any problem with the Van Gogh or newer mugs made with thermochromatic ink.

I had the Alice in Wonderland mug made by the same company, and you can see from the Amazon reviews that the majority of buyers had the same problem - regardless of whether they washed it in a machine or by hand
