Improv Everywhere Paints Traffic Lane for Tourists on New York City Sidewalk

(YouTube Link)

I've heard more than one New Yorker wish that tourists on sidewalks would either speed up or get out of the way. Improv Everywhere ran with this idea and spray painted actual traffic lanes marked "New Yorkers" and "Tourists" on a section of sidewalk. Then the pranksters tried to enforce them.

It took four days for municipal maintenance workers to remove the lanes.

New Yorkers, would you like to see carried out officially?

New Yorkers: we get it, yes we do. you are superior to us non-new yorkers in every way. you not only should have your own lanes to walk in in NYC, but in other cities too. Then you can faster get to more places that are inferior to the corresponding place in NYC.

Alright, it's not the tourists walking slow that bothers me. It's their tendency to stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk.

Treat the sidewalk like you would driving on a highway. You wouldn't just slam your brakes during rush hour to check out a pretty tree, would you?

erak...so right.

We love you tourists, you help the NYC economy. But, tourists, you have to understand that when I'm trying to get to work my commute is not improved by groups of people standing around on the sidewalk impeding the flow of foot traffic. I don't want to have to fight my way around you.
