Tarantula Cocktail - Neatorama

Hey, don't eat that tarantula just yet! Apparently, when mixed with rice wine, these spiders make a good cocktail:

The trade for spiders as food has been in effect since the 1970's in Cambodia - but only very recently have tourists been finding a way to see where the spiders are hunted in the nearby countryside.

well that is a innovation to the beverage industry. Do you know how they got rid of the poison from this predator?

It 's not a very appetizing drink even for the most brave drinker unfortunately. On our trip to Cambodia last year, my dad was duped to buy a carton of this "cocktail". It costed around $3 and you could select 10 live spiders to add into a carton half filled with rice wine. After a while, all the spiders died but the wine was fulled of all the fur from the spiders and made it all gross out and undrinkable.

Why is every disgusting and/or endangered creature purported to be an aphrodisiac? And it's usually in Asia or a third world country, so even if I believed in aphrodisiacs I would still be wary of them.
