The 80s were much coller when they were THE FUTURE! The TV show "UFO" was broadcast in Britain in the 1970s. The show was set in the early 1980s, when space aliens were kidnapping Earthlings and a secret military organization called SHADO was set up below a London film studio to stop them. Back then, spaceships had flashing colored lights, women had purple hair and IBM Selectric typewriters automatically spat out the latest UFO warnings. Opening sequence created by Gerry Anderson.- via

I'm with aware though - mesh shirts are never a good fashion statement.
Mesh mock turtlenecks, however?
Actually - still a horrible, horrible idea.

I always hope they could find an agreement :)
When I was a kid, I loved all the cool vehicles, but I couldn't follow the "talky" bits.
Now I'm finally able to appreciate all the thought and care that went into it. I don't really have time to go into it here, but in comparison to other Sci-Fi of the time, i.e. Star Trek, Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, I'd actually consider UFO the better show!
