Man Loses License After Driving Drunk in Barbie Toy Car

Paul Hutton of Essex, UK, was stopped by police for driving a children's toy car while drunk. The Barbie-branded vehicle has a top speed of 4 mph. Hutton won't be allowed to drive for another three years:

Mr Hutton, was found to be twice the drink-drive limit, he said.

Appearing before magistrates last week, he admitted driving the toy car while drunk.

He was given a mandatory three-year ban because he had received another drink-drive ban within the past ten years.

so he got a dui for driving a vehicle that you can outrun on foot. unless he was driving it in traffic,it would seem like the authorities are over reacting a little to me.

I don't know how many commenters are Americans and how many are Brits, but this is typical for the U.K. I read the Telegraph, Times, Guardian and Mirror every day on the net, though I'm in Florida. This kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME over there. I don't think Americans are quite that bad. There's something about the nanny state in the UK that has really penetrated all the way to the bottom of of the brains(?) of UK public servants. Tea Partiers would go batshit if anyone tried to do the same stuff over here.
