Dondurma -- Turkish ice cream -- is apparently made differently from ice cream in the United States, and has stickier consistency. I can tall you you're right about Turkish ice cream being sticky. It's like eating somethings that's a cross between fudge in thickness, caramel in consistency, and super rich.
It's every bit as awesome and funny as it was described in the book.
