Ninja Restaurant

Perhaps it's not such a good idea to be rude at your waitress in this restaurant: they wield swords and flare flames at diners of the Ninja Restaurant.

"The ninja is mysterious," said Ou Chia-wei, owner of the restaurant simply named Ninja, explaining why he chose that theme for the Japanese-style restaurant. "On that premise, we can do magic tricks and light up the food."

Waitresses working the barely lit dining room floor burn specialty menus, which vanish without a trace of ash, and send flames snaking across tables as customers watch.

FYI for those living in the states, they have a place like this in lower Manhattan, NYC. The New York version actually seems to have even more dedicated to the theme. The entire restaurant is like a Disney World set, sculpted to look like you're in a castle or cave depending on where you're sitting. The food is on the expensive side ($30+ with a drink) and it's obviously a bit of a niche market but it's worth checking out at least once: http://www.ninjanewyork.com/

I've been to Ninja NY twice and it's tons of fun. It's set up like a 16th century Japanese village complete with private booths with rice paper doors. With an excellent selection of sake and some spectacular presentations for their signature dishes, it's worth the overpriced food. It's all about the experience right?

I've been to a couple of restaurants like this, including one in the city I live in called The Ninja.

I don't get it though. I mean, it's a neat experience eating there and all, but is this some sort of advertisement for them?
