if you are going to donate it to charity,why the hell are you giving it other countries while our economy is in the toilet?Thats why OUR economy is in the toilet is because everyone is supporting all the other countries while our own is suffering?There are african american japanese etc or orphans in AMERICA yet the rich go to AFRICA ETC TO ADOPT,KEEP THE MONEY IN OUR COUNTRY AND QUIT GIVING IT OTHER COUNTRIES,ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE BOMBING US OR ARE GOING TO!!OMG!!

Yikes! I think it's a good idea to give to charities but why give it to other countries when we have enough in our own country to support! Dumbf? I THINK HE IS AVOIDING SOMETHING HERE IN THE US OR HE WOULD BE DONATING IT TO OUR COUNTRY! HE REALLY LOOKS LIKE HE NEEDS ATTENTION NOT MONEY! IDIOT.

It is ok to give people the fish poles and teach them how to fish. But give them too much fish, they won't fish themselves. So giving wisely is OK. Don't spoil the receivers, and also, don't let the local authorities become rich on the money that this guy intended to to give to the poor and needy.

Giving away all you have is a great guesture. I wish I could. I have easier time to pack more things than let go things, sad. If this guy does not have a wife, I will marry him because he is very RICH at heart.

But if I were him, I would not say one word about my plan of giving my money away. I would travel myself to the poor locals and establish a few production companies to help the jobs and teach them skills and self reliance, self sufficient, and for the mean time I give them some minimum comforts while waiting for my real plan of helping them. I won't spoil them.

I am glad that he is sharing his wealth with others. I wish twenty percent of the people who keep 80% of the wealth of the world should let go their money so no more poverty and starvation of the beautiful and loving earth. Make this earth become heaven with love and sharing. If it is possible, would any one like that? We have to save this earth for our children. Please recyle. And please love our animal friends. We cannot live without animals but, animal can live without human, sad.

why not us we have people here that need help.people like me i got to work everyday with pain in my lower back that runs to my legs and stand more then 8hrs on my feet and dizzie spells and still have to find the ability to work to support my family think of helping poeple like me or in my coundition by the time i finish paying my morgage ill be 6 feet under ground!!!!!!!!!!

I feel his pain of loneliness. I just wish I had the opportunity to acquire the riches to make such a decision. I would probably give monies directly to the needy and make it fun in the process, which will cause him to meet many appreciative new friends. I pray that may will benefit from the donations because some charities, even popular ones, are not managed properly these days. I wish him much luck in regaining the strength that he once had to acquire such riches.

no money can't buy happiness, and i don't think that you were wrong for giving it away. i have done the same thing down through the years with family friends, and people i didn't know. i have no regret , but i didn't think about who it would also affect. Now i am struggling to make ends meet with out a job and a child in college. so before you give it all away pray for directions on who, what, and where to help and please don't forget your self. Well, i know like everybody else the money can't buy happines. But if you have to get up everyday for all your life at 2:30Am in the morning, to go to work you will be wishing to have some money, alest to have a good vacation once a year. I have bean poor all my life and i don't want millions, but alest enouth to pay my bills without having to think how im going to pay each month. I wish people like him will think about others before given to charity that most of the time not even care about those poor homeless people. I wish him all the luck in the world, and i wish i can have a little of how much he had. God bless him

We simply think that money is everything and will bring happiness to us, but in truth if you have money and not friends then how unhappy is that? I really wish he would have given it away to his family and close friends. I'm sure some of them could use it. If it were me, I would give it away to family, friends, and people in my community that really, really need it. Right now with so many people out of work and needing money to make ends meet, I'm sure there was someone that could have used some of that. I'm always worried that some of these organizations don't always do the right thing with donations.

Mr. Rabeder the reason you are unhappy, first of all is because you are empty. The only one that can make you happy is God, because his word saids, that "What does a man profit if he gains the whole world, and then looses his soul". There is no problem with having money, the problem is the money having you, to a point where your heart is affected. Mr. Rabeder my question then to you sir is, "Can money really buy you happiness?" No!!!! But it can make you happy if you use it to make others in NEED happy. Mr. Rabeder my prayer every day is Lord bless me, so that I may be a blessing! A blessing to those families right NOW who are in need. Whether it be financially, physically, or spiritually. I know that there are many charities, but we are praying for a miracle, so that we may build our church in Elgin, IL so that we can make many unhappy people happy through the Lord Jesus Christ. So I pray Mr. Rabeder that the Lord would touch your heart, and consider our church not a charity but a gift of blessing to move this vision forward.

I can really admire this guy. I am in need of that kind of money to help me out of a situation. Life is funny when you see what you need to live and you worry about it. And this man doesnt worry and gives it away. How this would let my life be free.

I hope he tried living in the hut for at least a month before deciding to give it all away. Most likely he will regret what he's done and will still be unhappy. Money cant buy happiness nor being poor will make him any happier. maybe he just has some personal issues with dealing with people, family, friends, etc..

I think he is right. It would be a difficult way to live every day. I grew up poor. But you know, if I could live in the mountains and make helping others my life's work. Well, that would be pure joy.

I can relate in a microcosmic way. When the slowed economy meant fewer catering orders, I decided to take the banquet to the streets. Feeding the hungry, even if it is one grateful 84-year old woman, surrounded by predators (some family) who deny her the food in her very own pantry, gives me great satisfaction.

Such generosity is not dumb but rather the wisdom of the planet. Survival of the fittest means keeping strong to help another soul along.

It is in my downsized life I have found great blessings. This is the real joie de vivre.

we are a struggling family here in america. husband diganosed with copd, house needs walls and its okay he is giving it away but why not here in america where people here need help.

juli Powell is totally right , why the heck help other countries in USA needs the help . There's over 25 million people unemployed because big companies become greedy and stoled the "middle class " money / investment .

If he want to help , help those in United States, pay off the families mortgages , that would be a great help . That's considered help.

If I felt like this man I would go and help families and then start helping the neighbors sending checks to them . Charities only stick the money in there pocket .

Look at Cowell on American Idol , he paid off mortgages for families ,if he can do it any rich person could starting with Bill Gates , Warren Buffet.

well,we have a similar feelings i grew up in a middle class family and im used to make friends with poor people with pride and dignity..but happy people ..now that im financially okey i am not happy because it is easy for me to buy whatever i want ,dont find excitement anymore. and if there's a party and gathering for the so called made people in our society i felt like im in a wrong crowd...whatever ...all i can say is im started thinking of going back to my old simple and happy lifestyle.....being poor is cool because if you received simple things in life will make you happy..rich and poor people have one in common and that is DEATH...

Well, that's wise thing to do considering that he's been hearing voice; I want to believe that must be God directing his steps in uprightness. You know what? besides God, giving out everything won't give him happiness either.

Charity? fine but there are lot of individuals who equally need some help.
