The Cable Connector Quiz

Today's Lunchtime Quiz at mental_floss is a lot of fun, especially for someone like me who spent decades connecting audio-video equipment professionally. I'm sure you will enjoy it, too! Can you identify ten different types of connecting cables, both old and new? Good luck; I scored 80%. Link

100%, pretty easy.
You'd think the quiz maker would have at least used the proper name for the "telephone cable" 8P8C or commonly called RJ45

A bit too easy. 100% here, too.

If they wanted to be really tough they could've included some golden oldies like HP-IL, and maybe a CGA or an IBM token ring connector thrown in just to be tricky.

Telephone cable was a dead giveaway, there's no red in a Cat5/6 Ethernet cable...

Unless you're colourblind... 4 pins versus 8. Ethernet cabling tend to be round due to twisted pairing whereas telephone tend to be flat.

10/10. I'm an AV guy, so I would have some real issues if I got any wrong.

Yay! I passed my nerd exam with a score of 100%.
That was real easy.
I can now sit with a smug sense of satisfaction, along with all the other people who have no life.
