Stephen Von Worley created a map of the USA showing where McDonalds outlets are. As you can see, they are (almost) everywhere! You’ll have to go to South Dakota to get 100 miles away from a McDonalds. Link -via Buzzfeed
I'm guessing that there are more obese people on the eastern states.
It's basically a population density graph. It doesn't indicate that the Eastern States eat more McDonalds. The cities are closer together which is why the dots get denser. The Great Plains and Rocky Mountain Regions are sparsely populated; Denver and Salt Lake City are the only dense areas in these regions. Again, it's just population density, not an indication of calorie consumption.
I agree with Matt. We have three McD's here in the college town where I live. One located in Wal-Mart. This county is much smaller than my hometown county which has only about half the population and only one McD's at least 30 miles from any other. As a side note another location did not have a McD's until the 21st Century when it was likely determined that the traffic flow was enough to support a profit.
There are three McDonalds in my tiny little town. Population does not account for that. See, two are at the interstate exits and the third (the oldest) is where the locals go.
You can drive for almost 400 miles without seeing the golden arches up here!
They spread, and in many cases just parasitate the host, consume it and are pathogens.
