Like The Last Supper or the Abbey Road album cover, Stonehenge is such an iconic image that people the world over recognize it, even if it's made of bamboo or old refrigerators. Web Urbanist has collected 20 Stonehenge recreations from all over. Some try to faithfully resemble the original in England, others are art pieces using recycled materials. Pictured is Phonehenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Link -via Interesting Pile

Sadly Phonehenge is gone. It was removed when the Hard Rock Park went belly-up last fall. It was victim to part of the lawsuit over intellectual property rights when the park was purchase and reopened as Freestyle Music Park.

They do however still have a the wall painting of the iconic Abbey Road crossing.

...and others are piles of garbage waiting for the rubbish truck.

Still, some are pretty nice. I've always liked that Cadillachenge, and their is a nice mini-version in Scotland that is always a joy to see.

Stonehenge is one of those iconic images that transcend place and time.
