Ex-Con Tour Guides

If you're lost in Naples, look for the helpful guides in the yellow vests. They can reorient you, escort you through dodgy neighborhoods and advise you on foiling pickpockets. What gives their advice such authority is that they were once criminals themselves.

The Naples government wanted to help ex-cons start new lives through a pilot program called Esco-Dentro, or Exit-Inside, that runs through November.  For more info, click on the link.

"Naples is beautiful. We want to help change its bad reputation of crime," said former convict Antonio Solla. "And who better to know how criminals work than former criminals?"

I'm a fan of second chances. But who really knows how many people these guys have scr*wed over before they got caught? That's why I'd hold on to my wallet with an iron fist in these pick pocket hot spots. A friend of mine had his stolen while at a museum in Boston. I also wouldn't be interested in hearing the stories from these guys reliving the glorious exploits of their former lives of crime preying on clueless tourists. They could be like double agents or something.
