Junkyard workers in Japan noticed this seedling sprouting up under a car over 25 years ago. They let it grow and now it's lifted the whole car up in the air. Now they've created a shrine around it. Check out the video here.
I'm a little suspicious of the backstory, because trees generally don't grow "up" in the sense implied here. A carving on a tree does not travel "up" the trunk as the tree gets older.
@minnesotastan: You're exactly right. Trees grow wider but they don't push up from the ground. Besides, the car doesn't look like it has been sitting in the tree for 25 years.
This has all the elements of a good urban legend though. Sounds/looks awesome, seems plausible with the most basic knowledge about how determined plants can appear to be to grow and how strong trees are, plus the little memory of trees that have grown around street signs and the like.
Wow. That is unbelievable. Mother nature is something that cannot be taken for granted. A tree lifting a car. Usually its car lifts that are lifting cars of the ground.
Maybe I'm just too cynical...
Too bad it wasn't A Vette
