Tired of getting those "Your car warranty is about to expire" robo-call? I get those several times a week, even though I'm on the do not call list.
Well, thanks to some clever people over at reddit (oh, how I love reddit - can't beat the sophisticated level of snark there ...), we now have the identity of one of the spammers ... and their phone number! http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/8i1u7/want_the_phone_number_to_the_your_cars_warranty/
Will this stop them? Probably not - according to the Arizona Daily Star, it's not just a one company operation.
they may be down but they aren't your personal army ;)
This must be a Yanq problem. The only phone spam I have had as an Oz munchkin is from little Johnny Coward asking me to vote for him.
That was not me. I said ; ) not ;)
My point is I got my number on the Warranty do not call list by politely asking instead of using threats.
I'll be happy when these guys go away.
Auto One is David Tabb, 41, a man with a history of dicey consumer practices. Another of Tabb's companies, Hollywood Dreams, was listed at an address next door to Auto One. Hollywood Dreams was a company used as a front for selling sports and Hollywood memorabilia with forged signatures. In 2002 Tabb pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and one count of tax evasion for his part in a scam to sell the forged merchandise. According to the indictment filed in U.S. District Court, Tabb arranged to meet an undercover federal agent at a Chevron gas station in Irvine to sell him basketballs and other sporting items with forged signatures and fake certificates of authenticity. He continued to sell undercover feds forged merchandise, usually in parking lots, over the next year. Tabb did not respond to messages left at his last known home number or Auto One offices.

I did that and I stopped getting one type of autocaller for a new one which never gives up no matter how many times you press 2 to get removed. From now on I always press 1 to talk to a representitive and tell them I will keep pressing 1 until they stop calling.
sweet - now I have a back up plan if it starts back up!
^__^
and now they're back to "last notices" again.
*sob*
Also, cockeyed.com is looking into it as well. http://cockeyed.com/citizen/car_warranty/warranty.php
I thought I was dealing with a legitimate company about the manufacturer's extended warranty...until it was TOO LATE ! I want to take legal action. I do not live in California. Anyone know how to go about that ?
I hope he,Dave Tabb, rots in jail ! (i hope you dont consider that abusive since crooks belong in jail)
Thank you Proscriptus for you post. I have shared it with all my contacts. Lets nail this guy... do I need to talk to a U.S. attorney or a federal agent?
