I don't know what they're talking about, but the show is awesome!

Stange game shows over there.
I assume its against the rules for them to dive UNDER the big roll. If not they need to position themselves near the ramps that way when the big roll comes down they can dive under it.

would be more fun if it were not impossible! every seems to go out at about the same point, which can't be as exciting as if someone wins sometimes and there's a big variance in 'scores'?

Why oh why can't we have something like this in the USA? Why do we have to suffer through that stupid Jackass show instead?

Let's make our own amateur Japanese Game Show here! Who's with me?

I love Takeshi's castle but only the one with the legendary Craig Charles commentating on it as there are about 3 versions...the american commentators ruin it as you can tell they just don't get the humor involved.

Theres a new one, not long started, in the UK with Richard Hammond (from Top Gear) but its just a bit tame compared.

@neuralstatic

It isn't really about "winning"...it's about having fun...seeing who can have the most spectacular wipeout...laughing together (or rather, AT each other).

It's kinda rare that anyone really completes the tasks on these shows, but they don't care. They see an impossible task and run headlong at it anyway. Very different than the kind of game shows we have in the US. And a VERY different mindset about the whole thing.

Did anyone see the show "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" that aired last year? I couldn't stand watching it because the American participants took everything WAY too seriously.
I think the show "Wipeout" does a decent job of capturing that sort of silliness. A lot of the contestants don't take it very serious at all...at least until they make it into the later rounds. Then you see their attitude change. They start thinking about the money and start really trying. It's kinda interesting to watch the transformation.
