"Oo De Lally" in 13 Languages

The 1973 Disney animated film Robin Hood has been translated into languages all over the world, which has to be a difficult job because so much of the story is told through songs. Andy Baio at Waxy has collected over a dozen translations of the opening song "Oo De Lally" for your listening pleasure. The singers are quite talented! My favorite is the Arabic version. The diaolog in Disney movies back then seemed more... mature? I don't know if that's the right word, but it something about it made it more enjoyable than some of the recent ones.

Oh this is my favorite disney movie.

And as an Arabic major in college it's one of my favorite songs.

I love Oo de lally best in arabic though. I play it at least once a day.

Speaking of Arabic - A though occured to me. Isn't the crusade that the king is away on a crusade against the Muslims? Isn't that what the crusades back then were all about (from England's side, anyhow).

Seem a little odd to enjoy such a tale in Arabic. Wouldn't that kind of be like watching a 'disneyish' musical fun tale that takes place in Germany during the Nazi's invasion of Poland, or something like that?
